House shoes that you can wear outside of the house — Bishkek Kicks by Kyrgies
Versatile wool, cotton & natural rubber shoes for daily chores
Crafted in Kyrgyzstan utilizing only natural materials, the Kyrgies brand is known for the quality of their slippers and shoes.
With a big emphasis of sustainability and eco-friendliness, every shoe made by Kyrgies is 100% biodegradable — even these Bishkek Kicks that contain natural rubber in the soles.
A win for animals and humanity alike
The Kyrgyz wool that's sourced is from non-mulesed sheep, which means ethical sourcing of wool with no painful procedures done to the sheep (a common practice in Australia where skin is flayed from the buttocks to prevent flies from laying eggs in wrinkled skin).
While there's no leather in the specific pair we're reviewing today, whenever there is leather it's vegetable-tanned; no chromium toxins to permeate the Earth involved, just an old school method of tanning hides.
Speaking of old school, Kyrgies also crafts their shoes using traditional wet-felting techniques and hand-sewing, which requires craftsmen to accomplish. This isn't a machine churning out polyester slippers. There's a reason wet-felting has persisted for so long, and even the thought of it makes me want to pick up another cowboy hat.

Bishkek Kicks are versatile
Dubbed by Kyrgies themselves as their first "wear it everywhere" shoe, the Bishkek Kicks have been a great companion to me over the past few days.
Handmade from all-natural felted wool, Bishkek Kicks are the most versatile Kyrgies yet. Designed for workdays, walks, and everything in between, these shoes pair the breathable, temperature-regulating comfort of traditional Kyrgyz felt with the resilience of natural rubber soles.
One of the things I noticed most? The grippiness of the sole.
It's a combination of cotton and natural rubber (like from trees), and this combination seems to have a high durability — even more than the leather soles of my Saddleback moccasins.
